In reply to Brian Isikoff. It's inspired by an ancient Iraqi story (also riffed on by other authors) about a man who accidentally meets Death and flees, only for it to turn out that the place he fled to is the place where Death actually had an appointment to meet him!

Very nice – those are all going to cause things to move, as it were. The tenth – with Death – struck me as the oddest, but very genre-appropriate (and no more odd than, say, being killed by a giant helmet dropping from the sky).
